Nat Turner Tours was created to provide an experience of the African influence on American history. The tour's inspiration is the book A Mystic Chord Resonates Today: The Nat Turner Insurrection Trials by Walter L. Gordon, III. We will take the participants back to the Antebellum period and explore the world of slave and master in Virginia. The centerpiece of the tour is the stay in Richmond, the capital of the Confederacy, which has a motherlode of history on slavery. From Richmond we will take day trips to Montecello, the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Southampton-the site of the rebellion-, and Mount Vernon. The tour also includes a day trip through Washington D.C. which illustrates the impact of Egyptian lore on the design of the Capital.
